Horse afraid of water

Sensible creatures. You never know when the shallowest of puddles might harbor a lurking crocodile, a school of great whites or that most feared denizen of the deep, Architeuthis, or giant squid, which is capable of pulling a full-grown sperm whale to a watery grave. Horses know humans are utterly insane for blithely splashing through puddles in utter ignorance of what dangers lurk therein!

The horse does look poised to spring across. I can just imagine another time, with the same horse, and an owner leading him in-hand, the look on his face betraying the knowledge that in the next two seconds, he is either going to have a dislocated shoulder, lose the skin on his hand, or have a horse to catch.
