The scariest thing in my childhood was MOM.

And her wooden spoon.

Yes, she would chase us up trees. It was like trying to out-climb a grizzly.

Hah, I remember being chased by my mom like this a couple of times, although she preferred a flyswatter to a spoon.

We got FAST. That woman could run. And explode. Kinda trained us up not to be really all that bothered by anybody else. Sergeant screaming in my face while I'm locked at attention? Feh. Had worse.

A Prussian friend told me it was the Prussian Mama's disciplinary weapon of choice. Guess where some of my blood comes from? =:O

That's my rotten sister gloating under that tree. Mom, whose adult weight wouldn't let her QUITE reach me, told her to "get her when she comes down."

I landed on her and skinned for the beach.

BTW, it was my own fault - I'd been teasing her when my brother had whispered to me, "Watch out! Mom had a piece of chocolate today!"

I was raised by wolves....

Ew, sounds very hars to me. I was never hit as a child, by nobody except by other kids, of course, but that's not the same. Yes,; Wooden Spoons were a common weapon of moms all over Europe in old times. And hairbrushes. You know the really hard ones.

Well, I had been teasing mom.... and when she threw the pot of boiling peas at me, I squeaked, "MISSED!" I shoulda known better. :P
