Rommel in Afterdead

First of all, since this is just a quickie, it's "scanned" with Macbook Photo Capture, flipped and cropped.

Rommel in AFTERDEAD is, like the Desert Peach, one of the 'Dead. He doesn't remember his real life, or so he claims.

The "Raiders" are based on the Afrika Korps joke that they'd never make it back home, and would be forced to become just another African Tribe. Their camels are 'Dead, too, stinking cyborgs fitted with mouth lasers (which they sometimes use without instruction; when THESE camels spit, it's serious).

NOTE: I DO NOT consider Rommel to be one of my characters. He was an actual human being, with his own concerns. Like any writer should, I use his personae as a mouthpiece for my own opinions. I didn't know him, all I know about him I learned from books (including his autobiography), films and a few people who did know him or who were under his command. I'm a jake-leg amateur historian, but I understand historical rigor.

The "Rommel" in my books is -- like everybody else -- played by an actor. He picks up a good living as a character actor in many books and films. He has a condo in Florida and a timeshare in Hawaii. He has a Dachshund named "Yalta." He didn't name it that with any historical intent; his youngest daughter picked it up from a friend while on a Russian visit. Boy, was she grounded for smuggling a dog. Like the actual Rommel, his youngest brother might be gay, but the family doesn't ask.
